World in a Bowl
Explore the world, one bowl at a time

World in a Bowl brings the flavors of global cuisines into a practical format for everyday cooking. Each recipe uses a familiar structure, a short ingredient list, and no more than one main pot and a secondary pot, to allow you to explore authentic flavors without complicated preparation.
Philosophy
World in a Bowl is built on a simple idea. Once a week, all you need is a pot, a willingness to try something unfamiliar, and about an hour. In return, you get a flavorful, satisfying meal that feels as though you’ve traveled to a different part of the world.
Every recipe is one destination: one region, one pot*, and one page. You build the flavor by frying the aromatics, let the ingredients simmer, and, for a little while, your kitchen takes on the character of somewhere else.
World in a Bowl is modest about process, time, and equipment, but ambitious about flavor. The goal isn’t to make you a celebrity chef, recreate restaurant kitchens, or spend hours preparing dinner. It is to make exploring the world’s cuisines practical enough that it becomes part of an ordinary week.
Build your pantry once. Then, each recipe asks for only a handful of fresh ingredients from a single grocery trip. The cooking method stays familiar. The equipment stays the same. The cleanup stays simple. Only the destination changes.
